Additionally, it serves as an OEM replacement part for certain Sears-Kenmore and Ikea models. The tubing, made of flexible plastic, is designed to replace the water reservoir and supply water to both the ice maker and water dispenser.

The tubing may need replacement due to various reasons such as cracks from temperature changes, punctures incurred during installation, or general wear that compromises the material's durability.
