Air Conditioner Brands

Air conditioner repairs are usually electrical before they're mechanical: a bad capacitor, a failing fan motor, or a thermostat that's stopped reading temperature correctly account for the majority of the units we ship parts for. We carry capacitors, condenser fan motors, compressors, thermostats, and filters for both window units and central or split systems.

The Most Common Failure, By Far

A failing capacitor is the single most common reason an AC unit hums but the fan doesn't spin — it's also the cheapest part to replace, so it's worth testing before assuming the compressor or motor has failed. If the unit runs constantly without ever reaching the set temperature, check the thermostat sensor and the condenser fan motor before the compressor, since a weak fan motor makes the compressor work harder without cooling the space any faster. A unit that trips the breaker repeatedly usually points to a compressor or capacitor drawing too much current, and is worth having tested before repeated resets.

Window, Split, or Central — It Matters

Central and window units use almost entirely different part families, so confirm which type you have before ordering — the model number and unit type (window, through-wall, split, or central) will narrow this down quickly. Split system parts also differ depending on whether you need the indoor air handler component or the outdoor condensing unit component.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My AC is blowing warm air but the fan is running. What's the likely cause?
A: This usually points to a refrigerant issue or a failed compressor rather than a part we'd recommend replacing yourself — if the fan runs but nothing is cooling, have the refrigerant charge and compressor checked before ordering parts.
Q: How do I know if I need a run capacitor or a start capacitor?
A: Most residential AC units use a dual run capacitor that handles both the compressor and fan motor. The part is usually labeled with its microfarad (MFD) rating on the housing — match that rating exactly rather than estimating.
